Help shape Blackwood’s future as a hiking tourism destination. The Blackwood Hiking Hub Feasibility Study is exploring opportunities to attract visitors through regional hiking links. Share your feedback and ideas to inform the study and guide future tourism and infrastructure investment. Feedback can be provided on this project until Sunday 10 May 2026.

Moorabool Shire Council is preparing feasibility studies for the following projects:

• Blackwood Hiking Hub

Ballan Cycling Hub

The project is co-funded by Council and the State Government through the Tiny Towns Fund.

The purpose of the Blackwood Hiking Hub Feasibility Study is to better understand the potential and opportunity of hiking tourism in Blackwood that benefits local businesses, contributes to health and wellbeing, supports community connections, and improves links within the region. It will also examine potential infrastructure needs, indicative costs, and any other matters or constraints that may need to be considered.

The study will also consider whether there are opportunities to link Blackwood with nearby visitor destinations such as Daylesford, Ballan, Creswick and Geelong.

The study will involve information gathering, consultation with local stakeholders, and consideration of how the concept may align with existing regional plans.
