Blackwood Township Improvement Plan- Phase 2 Consultation

Township Improvement Plan Program

Blackwood has been identified for inclusion in Moorabool Shire Council’s Township Improvement Plan program. This program provides an opportunity for small towns across the Shire to receive streetscape improvements and for locals to contribute their ideas and priorities for these enhancements.  

Consultation Phase 1 (completed)

The first round of consultation was conducted to inform Blackwood’s Township Improvement Plan between 18 August and 12 September 2020. Feedback was gained from the community on key issues and aspirations relating to the renewal or upgrade of elements around the town. Council received over 100 responses from the Blackwood community during this consultation which have informed the draft Township Improvement Plan.

The consultation identified the following key areas for upgrade and renewal with reference to the historical and heritage aspects of the town:  

• New path connections
• Repair and renewal of existing paths  
• Roadside tree planting  
• General planting, furniture and amenity upgrades  
• Improvement to the Town ‘park’  

Consultation Phase 2 (current status)

Moorabool Shire Council is planning a Blackwood Township upgrade as part of the Open Space 2021-22 Capital Works Program. The objectives of the upgrade are in keeping with the recommendations in the Blackwood Township Improvement Plan initial consultation. The draft Township Improvement Plan is now available for public exhibition and community feedback.
