Step into the Central Highlands

It has been almost 20 years since our current visual identity was adopted. Moorabool Shire has changed a lot over that time and will change even more over the next 20 years.

Moorabool Shire is growing really fast and as we plan for the future, it’s important our visual identity represents who we are and where we want to be. It’s time we updated ours, Moorabool.

It’s time for a new identity that’s accessible for digital formats, as well as Vision Australia’s guidelines. 

Council staff have made it their project to research our people, towns and businesses; our nature and wildlife; our past and future vision. Now we are updating our visual identity to reflect that. 

It’s your Council, so we want you to have your say too!

Read the meaning behind each of the designs below to make an informed vote.

Luckily the research and design work has been undertaken in-house at no additional cost to rate-payers or Council.  Once we know your favourite and your feedback, Councillors will decide on the final change.  Our assets would be updated with the new logo over time when they naturally need replacing.

Meaning of the new designs

  • Our aim is to improve accessibility across our communications. Each of these designs pass the Accessibility Guidelines for people with colour blindness or other visual impairments. They also easily applicable to print and digital formats.

 

  • We’ve used blue to represent the significance of water to our region and green to highlight our vast rolling hills. The golden orange colour provides insight into how our townships were established and the golden future we aspire to. 

 

  • We made the important choice of carrying the flag shape through some of the designs as it’s a reminder of our past and holds significant recognition for Moorabool Shire.

 

  • The bird and gum tree are symbolic of our wildlife and stunning forest parks we have in our region. They demonstrate how we are made up of many unique communities connected under one Shire.

 

  • Lastly, the Moorabool Shire brand is a step between rural and urban living; a step toward nature and adventure; and a step into the Central Highlands. ​
