On Wednesday 5 May 2021, in accordance with the requirements of Council’s Community Engagement Policy and the Local Government Act 2020, Council resolved to receive feedback on the draft Community Vision 2030.

From December 2020 to April 2021, Council conducted significant community engagement activities with the community to capture your thoughts and aspirations. This draft document represents what you told us you want Moorabool Shire to be like in 2030.

We're now seeking your thoughts on the draft 'Our Community Vision for 2030' document, which can be supplied below.

Feedback on 'Our Community Vision for 2030' is invited until 5.00pm on Friday 8 June 2020.

What influenced the draft Community Vision?

This draft version of the Community Vision has been influenced by you, the Moorabool Shire Community.

We gathered your opinions, expectations and hopes to define a collective Community Vision for Moorabool Shire. This Vision comprises key themes that were common throughout the engagement activities of the project that will guide how we deliver this Vision.

We ran a deliberative engagement program between December 2020 and April 2021. More than 450 people across all demographic profiles took part in the engagement activities. We recruited a Community Reference Group (CRG) that reflected the diversity of our municipality to provide further insights in interactive workshops.

From initial social media posts, posters and flyers across the Shire to drive awareness to deliberative engagement activities with farmers, schools and those with online accessibility issues, we ensured we captured a truly representative voice.

Some of the activities included:

  • Comprehensive community survey - online and in hardcopy (including reply paid envelopes)
  • Reply paid postcards
  • Visual feedback from children and young people via a drawing competition
  • Community Reference Group workshops
  • Phone interviews for those requiring assistance
  • Staff consultations
  • Teacher-led engagement sessions at multiple schools to gain insights and submissions from school children
