Events Management Policy

Project Overview

Help shape the development of Council’s new Event Management Policy. This policy will guide how temporary events on public and private land (requiring statutory consent) are planned, assessed and approved to ensure they are safe and well managed. Community members, event organisers and local businesses are encouraged to share their feedback. Feedback can be provided until Sunday 21 June 2026.

As part of an internal review, Council identified the need to develop an overarching Events Management Policy to guide how temporary events are assessed and managed.

The 2023–2027 Visitor Economy Strategy also identifies events as a priority theme, with actions to review and enhance internal processes and resourcing to better support tourism events development.

The policy will help ensure events held in public open spaces and roadways under the care and control of Moorabool Shire Council are managed safely and effectively, while avoiding and minimising potential impacts and risks to the community and the environment.

The policy will also recognise the important role events play in bringing people together and supporting local businesses and economic activity.

We want to hear from event organisers, local businesses, and community members about how events should be assessed and managed across the shire.

This survey forms part of Council’s broader engagement process to gather feedback to support the development of an Events Management Policy. Your responses will help shape how events on public land are managed in the future.
