Events Management Policy

Project Overview

Have your say on Council’s new Events Management Policy. This policy will guide how temporary events are planned, assessed and approved to ensure they are safe, well managed and minimise impacts on the community and environment. Feedback from community members, event organisers and stakeholders is encouraged. Feedback can be provided until Sunday 21 June 2026.

In April 2020, an internal audit of Council’s events permits processes found opportunities to improve how events are managed. The audit, which was approved by the Audit and Risk Advisory Committee and formed part of Council’s 2019–2020 Internal Audit Program, recommended developing a single Events Management Policy to provide clear and consistent guidance for staff. In response, Council officers have developed a draft policy in consultation with internal and external stakeholders. The policy aims to set out how temporary events run by community groups, businesses and individuals are assessed and approved on public or private land. Its purpose is to ensure events are managed safely and effectively, while reducing risks and impacts on the community, public spaces and the environment.

The community is invited to share feedback on the draft Events Management Policy by completing the online survey. You can also provide written feedback or attend any advertised information sessions. Feedback from residents, event organisers and community groups will help shape the final policy.

  • Events Management Policy- draft consultation

Council seeks to develop a draft Event Management Policy. The Policy will establish a framework for assessing and approving temporary events on public or private land (requiring statutory consent) by external parties, including community groups, commercial entities, and individuals. It will ensure events held in public open spaces and roadways under the care and control of Moorabool Shire Council are managed effectively and safely, minimising and avoiding impacts and risks to the community and environment.

This survey has been designed as one part of the process in gathering community feedback.
