Female Friendly Sport and Recreation Participation and Infrastructure Strategy

Project Overview

Have your say on the Female Friendly Sport and Recreation Participation and Infrastructure Strategy.

Moorabool Shire wants to understand how more girls and women can be motivated and encouraged to stay active.

The development of a female participation and infrastructure strategy aims to create a roadmap to retain and attract more women and girls in physical activity.

The Strategy will also aim to understand the barriers and drivers that prevent and encourage Moorabool women and girls to participate.

As part of the project’s development, we want you to tell us:

  • What activities are popular for women and girls in Moorabool?
  • What activities would women and girls like to participate in, but don’t?
  • What has stopped, or what is stopping, women and girls from participating?

Who is involved?

The Strategy’s development has been funded by Moorabool Shire in partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria. The project will be delivered by consultants insideEDGE Sport & Leisure Planning and Victoria University.

Feedback from the community will be collected in two ways:

  1. Community Survey – the survey needs to hear from women and girls residing within Moorabool Shire. This includes females of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and abilities, and those currently engaged in physical activity as well as those not presently as active as they may like to be.
  2. Community Focus Groups -  we would also like the involvement of approximately 60 girls and women in our focus group workshops. These workshops will further discuss the current barriers and drivers around female participation in Moorabool, and help us shape the actions and recommendations for the Strategy.

For details on how to have your say, please see the “Get Involved” section on this page

How you can get involved

Hearing and receiving feedback from the community will be key to the Strategy’s success. We would like to hear from you if you are:

  • A woman or girl living in Moorabool Shire: we want to hear from females of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and abilities.
  • A representative of a sport and recreation provider: if you are a sport or recreation club, program provider or facilitator of physical activity in Moorabool we also want to hear from you.

Complete the survey

If you are someone who identifies with those listed above, please complete the community survey (link).

The survey will be open from Monday 10 May to Monday 14 June, 2021.
