With Ballan’s population projected to nearly triple by 2041, there’s an urgent need to ensure the town’s transport infrastructure can support this growth. BITS aims to address existing challenges and prepare for future demands while fostering sustainable, safe, and efficient transport options for the community.
The strategy is currently in the planning phase, with community consultation underway from November to December 2024. Feedback gathered during this stage will help shape the final version of the strategy, which will guide transport developments over the coming decades.
BITS focuses on transport infrastructure within Ballan, targeting key areas of growth, public transport, heavy vehicles’ transport, major intersections, cycling and walking paths, and connectivity improvements to support access across the township.
BITS is being developed through a collaborative process involving technical studies, stakeholder input, and community feedback. The final strategy will incorporate public priorities, ensuring it aligns with the town’s needs and long-term goals.
