Community Road Safety Strategy 2025-2029

FAQ

The Road Safety Strategy was developed using a combination of local crash data analysis, population and transport trends, and recognised road safety best practice. This technical work was supported by input from Council officers, road safety specialists, and partner agencies. Community feedback has also played an important role. Input from the first Have Your Say survey and two community sessions helped shape the priorities and actions in the Draft Strategy, which is now being shared for final feedback.

Some elements of road safety are set at a State or national level and are managed by other agencies, such as Victoria Police and the Department of Transport and Planning. While these areas are important, they sit outside Council’s direct control. This consultation focuses on refining the Draft Road Safety Strategy rather than starting again. Feedback is most helpful when it relates to local road safety issues, priorities, and actions that Council can influence.

Council is seeking feedback on whether the Draft Road Safety Strategy is clear, reflects local road safety issues, and focuses on the right priorities and actions. This includes identifying any gaps, missing locations or road user groups, and suggesting local improvements or partnerships that align with the Strategy. This feedback will be used to refine the Strategy before it is finalised and presented to Council for adoption.

Once the consultation period ends, all feedback will be reviewed and considered. Key themes and suggestions will be used to refine the Draft Road Safety Strategy where appropriate. The final Strategy will then be presented to Council for consideration. Once adopted, the Strategy will be published on Council’s website and shared with the community.
